Super fresh fish!! The chef is friendly and prepares the sushi in front of you, making a great dining experience. The Hida A5 beef is absolutely amazing-melts in your mouth 😋. Definitely coming back if I get the chance.

This restaurant is, without a doubt, one of my favorite places to eat on the planet. The food is absolutely exquisite—each dish is crafted with the highest quality ingredients and an incredible level of thoughtfulness. It stands out in its category as the best for both its price and overall experience. Beyond the food, the design is impeccable. The plates and plating are truly special—each dish feels like a work of art, presented with the same care and attention that goes into its preparation. The entire space is beautifully curated, from the stunning live-edge wood to the warm, inviting ambiance. Every detail has been considered, creating an experience that feels timeless. The people here shine with kindness, and the chef-owner makes you feel completely at home, adding to the magic of the experience. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, and you can just be—immersed in the moment, savoring every bite. Thank you Mr Kiyotaka!!! Every time we visit, we find ourselves returning for consecutive days—it’s that special. If you have the chance, don’t miss out on an unforgettable meal here. This is by far one of our favorite spots in Takayama!

The beef is good, but the sushi is just average. The price is quite high. This place caters to tourists and has staff who speak English.

The menu is a bit difficult to understand, in terms of the price per set, but the taste of the food and the quality of the Hida beef are very good. The meat is tender and the sushi is fresh, but the price is a bit high. However, it is a good and popular restaurant in Takayama.

Tourists like the 4 of us were shown the premium menu instead of their regular menu. So if you are a tourist, do check out their lower price range menu. 🤨 Anyway with high expectations for the A5 grade Hida beef, we ordered the “A5 grade Hida beef round Kaiseki course” that costs 7000yen per pax. The hand-made milk pudding is the yummiest we ever had. Very smooth with just the right amount of sweetness. The crab soup is ok when taken hot but tasted very fishy when cooled. Some of the 8 pieces of sushi were good but not particularly outstanding. However, the most disappointing was the A5 grade Hida beef. Even though we were told it will be grilled to medium rare, the beef were tough and had lots of tendons. We strongly believed it’s not grade A5 and really felt we were shortchanged for the price we paid.
